We are a community of people who follow Jesus. Our mission statement is “igniting passion for Jesus” and that is exactly what we try to do. We want to grow in our love for Jesus and we want to help other people discover him for themselves.
Jesus welcomed everyone that came to him, and we want to follow his example. So we will extend a warm welcome to everyone. No matter what your circumstances, we encourage you to join us.
We are an inclusive church – a church which celebrates and affirms every person and does not discriminate against people on grounds of disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexuality, learning disability, mental health, or neurodiversity.
We believe in a church which welcomes and serves all people in the name of Jesus Christ; which is scripturally faithful; which seeks to proclaim the Gospel afresh for each generation; and which, in the power of the Holy Spirit, allows all people to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Jesus Christ.
Because discipleship mattered to Jesus, it matters to us and we strive to find creative ways of living our lives as disciples of Jesus today. You can be a part of St. Matt’s by simply joining us for worship, or you can get more fully involved. We’d love to encourage you to serve and lead in any area of the church according to your gifts. We are blessed at St Matt’s to have members serving in leadership roles and on our volunteer teams with a diverse range of identities and backgrounds.
When Jesus called people to follow him he not only invited them to enter into a relationship with himself but also with each other. There are lots of ways you can make new relationships and friendships at St. Matt’s. You can join a house group or be part of a pod (a small group of people who meet together to think about how they can become more like Jesus). You can join an activity hub – a chance to do something you enjoy while getting to know others with similar interests. You can sign up for a course or join a team and find a place to serve. Whatever you wish, you can choose the pace at which you get involved.
